Junjou Romantica Act 47[]

It is currently New Year's Eve and while Akihiko Usami is buckling under the pressure of his deadlines, Misaki Takahashi and Shinosuke Todo are looking forward to the upcoming The☆Kan movie. After they say their goodbyes at the train station, Usagi calls Misaki so he could pick him up and hears Kaoruko Usami calling out to Misaki. Both Kaoruko and Mizuki Shiiba were there and she took Misaki's phone and told Usagi to pick them up at the café nearby. Misaki leaves to charge his train pass and is stuck in line behind a woman in traditional clothes. Misaki decides to help her and he quickly realizes that she is unfamiliar with the ticket system. Kaoruko is shocked when she sees them and introduces her as her aunt Natsuko Usami, who is Usagi's mother. Misaki quickly thinks of her as Usagi-haha and is hit with déjà-vu. Natsuko explains that she left England to visit Japan only because Fuyuhiko Usami was out of town. Kaoruko quickly refers to Misaki as Usagi's lover and he is mortified. But when Natsuko says that she is glad because it means the Usami bloodline will no longer exist, Misaki is shocked and scared. Kaoruko chides her aunt and Tanaka arrives to chauffer Natsuko away but not before inviting Misaki to the villa. At the café Kaoruko tries to cheer Misaki up by telling him that Natsuko meant that she wants her son to live his life without being held back by the Usami family. Kaoruko assumes that Misaki's parents get along fine and he realizes that they don't know his parents died when he was young. Kaoruko mentions that while Usagi had family, he was alone so she's happy he met Misaki. Meanwhile, Usagi and his mother lock eyes outside the train station but he keep on walking as if she was a stranger. Kaoruko continues by saying Natsuko's lack of tack hurt Usagi but she does read his books so maybe something can be done to help the severed relationship.

At home Usagi finally meets his deadline to Eri Aikawa's relief. After she leaves, Misaki struggles to carry Usagi to the bath and mentions that he saw his mother and that she knows they are together. He immediately assumes that she told Misaki that she didn't really care what he did. Misaki tries to comfort Usagi by telling him that his mother reads his books so she must be interested in him. Usagi pats his head and gives him a forced smile before deciding that he wants a bath with him as a reward because when he's with Misaki, the past doesn't matter. Misaki wards him off until Usagi asks if it's not something he wants. Misaki caves and agrees. They have sex in the bath and although Misaki feels good, he is too embarrassed to admit the fact when Usagi asks outright. Usagi stops what he's doing and waits until Misaki meekly tells him what he wants and Usagi complies. Misaki thinks about how he hopes that Usagi and his mother will reconcile because he does not want to see the forced smile again. And even though Usagi says Misaki is his reward, Misaki feels like it's the other way around.

Later that night Usagi and Misaki are on their way to the temple. Usagi formally thanks Misaki for everything that he has done for him during the year and Misaki returns his sentiments. Usagi continues by hoping that they will get along next year, Misaki grows silent. After Usagi prods him, Misaki blurts out that they should hope to get along in all the years to come. Usagi agrees with him and Misaki internally thinks that despite the obstacles ahead, everything will be alright.

Misaki and Usagi are outside in the cold among hoards of people as they wait in line to say their prayers at the temple. Misaki looks to his left and is shocked to lock eyes with Hiroki Kamijou who was there with Nowaki Kusama. They exchange New Year's greetings and part ways quickly. Misaki and Usagi make their wishes and Misaki is devastated to receive a rare bad luck fortune. He tied it to the tree and prayed for good fortune even though Usagi reminds him that dreams and wishes are things that the person themself can make into reality. They quickly leave after Usagi spots Ryuuichiro Isaka and Kaoru Asahina because he does not want to talk about work.

Back home, Usagi asks Misaki if he would be visiting Takahiro Takashi and Misaki thinks how it would be rude to his family and Usagi since the relationship is still hidden. He admits to Usagi that he informed the Gods that he's making sure that he can stay with Usagi so he would like their help and learns that Usagi prayed for the same thing. They wish each other Happy New Year and Usagi hopes that they will spend another year together and the year after that and the years after that. Misaki thinks Usagi is making fun of him, but Usagi denies it and scoops him up to join him in a New Year's bath and they have sex. Afterwards, Usagi said he was happy that Misaki would admit to what he wished for and Misaki explains that his fortune informed him that his wishes will not come true by hoping they will. So he will start with the small things and see it through the end.

Junjou Romantica Act 48[]

It is New Year's day and Misaki is very happy with the mochi machine that Usagi bought and they made a lot. Then they make plans to buy lucky bags since Usagi never had the chance to experience them. Takahiro calls Usagi, and Misaki thinks about how they haven't spoken since their argument. Takahiro ends the call before Misaki can talk to him and Usagi tells him that they have been invited over. Usagi reminds him that he has his support and Misaki shyly thanks him. Just as they drive out, Misaki spots Fuyuhiko who wishes them both a Happy New Year and gives them a bear wood carving lucky bag. When Misaki shows his surprise that he was in Japan, Fuyuhiko is unsettled that Misaki got the news from Natsuko. Usagi informs him that she must be at the house and Fuyuhiko admits that it had been a while since he spent the holidays with his wife. Usagi did not answer his father when asks if he saw his mother too. Misaki realizes that there is a misunderstanding in the Usami family.

At the Takahashi residence, they are warmly greeted by Manami Kajiwara and Mahiro Takahashi but Takahiro averts Misaki's eyes. During dinner, Takahiro tells an embarrassing story from Misaki's childhood but while mortified, Misaki is relieved that the atmosphere is back to normal. However, when the topic of his post-graduation trip came up, Takahiro was ready to talk about Misaki's plans of moving out. Misaki wants to convince his brother that staying with Usagi isn't out of selfishness. He starts to say something but Usagi cuts him off by offering the truth. When Takahiro interjects, Manami commands everyone to stop talking. She sternly and patiently explains to Takahiro that Misaki's feelings need to be taken into consideration and that he is in fact doing quite well for himself for his age. She convinces him that he needs to take other people's opinions into consideration before forcing his own.

On their way home, Misaki marvels over the way Manami defended him and Usagi admits that she said everything that he wanted to say. Misaki is glad that he was honest with Manami and thanks Usagi as well. He realizes that he has a lot of people supporting him when he needs it the most and Usagi explains it's because he does everything with devotion that the people around him want to help. Usagi then confesses that for the first time he realizes that if they do not have Takahiro's support, Misaki would lose a part of himself and he would lose a part of Misaki too. Misaki thanks him and Usagi kisses him because it was the third time he was thanked that day. At home they have sex against the window and when Usagi asks if it feels good, Misaki waits for Usagi's answer before agreeing that it feels good for him too. Misaki thinks that even though there are choices he might regret, he will always proudly stay by Usagi's side.

Misaki and Todo are at The☆Kan movie premier with a special appearance by Kyo Ijuuin who waves at Misaki before he leaves the stage. Todo was ready to buy more tickets when they found an unimpressed Usagi right behind them as he surveills his enemy. They end up watching the movie five times.
