Yuu Yanase (柳瀬 優, Yanase Yuu) is a supporting character in the Sekai-ichi Hatsukoi series. After Volume 26's Junjou Sentiment, Ijuuin Kyo and him are officially dating.
Appearance[]
Yuu has medium-length brown hair and thin eyebrows above his light maroon eyes. He is also seen to wear glasses when he is working in the manga and often favors a light brown duster jacket when working with Chiaki.
Relationships[]
Yuu, like Chiaki, has been a fan of Ijuuin's work since he was 12-13 years old. He grew up to be a freelance mangaka assistant and currently works for Ijuuin. On the day where Misaki ultimately rejected Ijuuin, Yuu dropped by Ijuuin's studio to assist him with work. Ijuuin expressed his gratitude for helping him on such short notice and regrets that he hasn't given Yuu any days off. Following this incident, he gave Yuu a copy of keys to his place. After spending some time together, Ijuuin started to take notice of Yuu. He has stated that Yuu had become a "new light" in his world.
Some time after, the two bonded over their failed love life. They began to drink and Yuu confessed that the person he was rejected by was a man. This caught Ijuuin's interest since he had also been rejected by a man. When Yuu was about to wash their dishes, Ijuuin kissed him. They began to make out before Ijuuin leads him to his bedroom. When things were starting to get too heated, Yuu's panicked reaction caused Ijuuin to stop and they ended up having intercrural sex. When Yuu woke up, he was surprised to see that he had slept over at Ijuuin's house and that the mangaka was still sleeping next to him. He tried to quietly leave the place but Ijuuin woke up. In that moment, Yuu received a message from another mangaka who needed help, prompting him to hurry. Before Yuu could leave, Ijuuin pleaded for Yuu to go out with him. Though reluctant at first, Yuu accepted, thus making him and Ijuuin an official couple. It can be guessed he is a bottom now, as he hilariously says "Eh, that means I'm on the recieving end?" very nervously when talking to Ijuuin. He likely didn't expect to be the bottom as he probably imagined himself as a seme in his fantasies with Chiaki.
